Dennis Smith, born 1947, Clarendon, Jamaica, began deejaying under the name of Dennis Alcapone in the late 60s. At the beginning of the new decade his popularity rapidly increased, with a series of appealing cuts for Jamaica's leading producers. Albums for Coxsone Dodd and Bunny Lee proved highly successful. Since the mid 70s his output has become less prolific, but he took up performing again at the beginning of the 90s. For quite some years now Dennis Alcapone resides in London, UK.
