Trevor Sutherland aka Ijahman Levi made his first recording in 1961 under the name Youth for producer Duke Reid. In 1963 he moved to the U.K. and although he recorded a number of singles for various labels they didn't made any impact. He put his career on hold but it was resuscitated in 1972 when he was reborn as Ijahman Levi. In 1978 he delivered his debut album "Haile I Hymn", the prototype for nearly all its successors.
