Born in Manchester Jamaica, (and moved to Brooklyn NY at the age of 7) Ruff Scott aka Mr. Reality was inspired by world of reggae at a very young age. At the age of fourteen Ruff Scott was already an upcoming DJ, writing his own lyrics. From the very first beginnings Ruff Scott has specialized in creative lyrics, each carrying a positive message. He has been involved in the reggae music industry for more than 20 years, performing with some of the biggest stars in Reggae as he graced the stage with the likes of King Yellowman, Dennis Brown, Marcia Griffiths, Sugar Minott, The Easy All Stars, Frankie Paul, Sister Carol, Carlene Davis, Beenie Man, Super Cat, Bounty Killer, Ken Boothe, and U-Roy.
Ruff Scott also performed in various clubs in New York. These include Q-Club, Club Legend, Loo International, Club Mirage, Bentley's, Liguinea S.O.B., Jam Rock and many others. Ruff Scott first toured the beautiful island of Hawaii to do an inter-island tour, where he met The Heartical Crew (T.H.C) and Pacific Sounds Outer-National a permanent alliance was formed. While in Hawaii Ruff Scott performed at various venues such as Hanna's in Honolulu, Wailers pub on the island of Kwaii, Don Ho's and Shipley's. He then went to California to do the Sierra Nevada Music Festival. In 2001 Ruff Scott released his debut album entitled "Pray To HIM", which was co-produced by Isis Lipman and the rest of the T.H.C. musicians.
His latest work "Roots And Culture", produced and released by Cool Breeze Records -- an independent record label located in New York City that produces and distributes reggae music in partnership with artists and performers, and also does Live Event Management --, is to date his showcase work with 18 tracks of conscious lyrics and refreshing music, which was produced and arranged by the world famous Julien C. Paul. "Roots And Culture" features a stellar cast of musicians such as Freddy McCondichie on the drums, Aya Kato on the Keyboards, Sherard Harris on guitar, while Julien C.
