This chart features only singles that topped Richie B's Dancehall Top 25 and Reggae Top 25 in 2012. The ranking is based on the weeks they were holding the #1 position plus the weeks on the chart.

In the years 2010 and 2011 the Dancehall charts of Richie B's "Jamaica's Weekly Countdown Charts" were dominated by Mavado and Vybz Kartel, who then were the most prolific as well as most successful dancehall artists. The Singles Top 50 of 2012 lacks tunes by Mavado and, for obvious reasons, also Vybz Kartel isn't a dominant force anymore. However he's still around in the lower regions of this chart with his #1 hits "Party Me Say" and "Back To Life". It are Konshens (with four #1 hit singles) and Cham and rising star Popcaan (both with three #1 hits) who have dominated Richie B's Dancehall charts in 2012. One look at the tunes that are featured in the top 10 makes clear that, just like in the previous two years, mainly JA produced modern roots & lovers efforts were very successful. But again it doesn't imply that there have been that many exciting tunes released. And although new names such as Tony Roy, Eljai, Cat Eyes, Hefla Nyah, and Nando Griffiths to name five have enjoyed more hit success in Jamaica than established artists like for example Capleton, Sizzla, Sanchez, Luciano, and Anthony B, there are only very few of them that we can expect to become a real big international star.
