  • Jahdan Blakkamoore & Illuminati Congo - Queen Of The Forest
Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
Towards the end of the year 2010, the well respected Lustre Kings imprint released Jahdan Blakkamoore's worthwhile album "Babylon Nightmare". After that the versatile artist was involved in projects with Midnite, Glen Washington, Major Lazer ("Free the Universe") and Snoop Lion's "Reincarnated" (lending his vocals to tracks like "Boulevard" and "Harder Times").

Recently he started working on his own new project entitled "Upward Spiral", which has led to the release of the first single from that album: "Queen Of The Forest". The latter, produced by Andrew 'Moon' Bain and Godstar from Lustre Kings, sees Jahdan Blakkamoore collaborate with Chicago-based hip-hop group Illuminati Congo (vocalist Jahn The Baptist and producer Nic The Graduate). "Queen Of The Forest" is a great weed song with lyrics to match. Recorded at the Tuff Gong studios in Kingston JA with Shane Brown at the controls, this mesmerizing reggae song - with an awesome bass line driving the skanking riddim - has a bit of hip-hop texture. That this can work very well was already proven on some of the tracks featured on the "Babylon Nightmare" set.

Already looking forward to the release of the "Upward Spiral" album.
