Super Hi-Fi, a band that has been creating waves in the fertile Brooklyn music scene for two years now, debuts on record with the ear-catching "Single Payer", released by the Brooklyn-based Electric Cowbell Records. Besides bassist and composer Ezra Gale, whose last outfit Aphrodesia memorably took their take on afrobeat all the way to Femi Kuti's Shrine in Lagos, Nigeria, the band consists of Alex Asher and Ryan Snow on trombones, Will Graefe on guitar, Gale on bass and Madhu Sidappa on drums.

Recorded and mixed by Brooklyn dub master Prince Polo and produced by Sound Liberation Front, the production crew responsible for NYCís Dub Invasion Festival, "Single Payer" (a tongue-in-cheek political reference) incorporates the kind of deep, steppers grooves known from Aswad's "Warrior Charge" as well as other favourites from Jah Shaka. The sound is warm, enveloping and heavy as lead, with a fiery trombone solo and samples of Nancy Pelosi and Joe Lieberman in the mix. "Single Payer" is an exciting instrumental piece with a BIG vibe, that is backed by a radically deconstructed remix from legendary dub producer Victor Rice.

For even more listening pleasure the 7" vinyl comes with a download card that contains MP3 versions of both sides plus additional Victor Rice dub mixes that complete a three-part refashioning of the track.
