General Echo (aka Ranking Slackness) was one of the first dj's to challenge the predominantly cultural approach of the majority of mid to late 70's dj's. He only recorded two albums : "The Slackest LP" as Ranking Slackness and this 1980 album. Tracks 1 and 11 are Winston Riley productions, while the others tracks were produced by Junjo Laws. Using several well known "Junjo" riddims, this album was at that time one of the ultimate examples of "slackness". No cultural lyrics, strictly slackness ! Mixed by the great Scientist this set proved to be a major influence on the upcoming dj's who made it big in the 80's. This promising dj was shot dead by the police in Kingston in 1980, along with Flux and Big John from his Echo Tone Hi Fi soundsystem.
