Norris Reid was a member of the harmony vocal trio The Viceroys which he left in 1983 to concentrate on his solo career with Horace Swaby aka Augustus Pablo. "Give Jah the praises" - the second and better of the two albums he recorded for Pablo - is the reissue on compact disc of Norris Reid's showcase style set that hasn't been around for a while now. This great album contains six vocals and six dub work outs of exemplary roots material from this fine vocalist with Augustus Pablo well in control of the proceedings. Included are three of Pablo's best-known riddims: King Tubby meets the rockers uptown (Black Forces), Pablo satta (Give Jah the praises) and East of the river Nile (Entrance of Jah world). For some reason the one responsible for this reissue has decided to divide the vocal and dub cuts instead of presenting them as one track, truly somewhat disappointing and unbelievable too !
