After having worked for 4 years on his "Journey To Foreign" project, Bermudian/UK singer, songwriter and producer Clinark (pronounced Klin_Ark) aka The Reggae Torch finally released his debut album in 2008. Besides solo efforts the 20 track cd also contained a few notable combination tunes including "Living In A Concrete Jungle", which saw Clinark teaming up with Jamaican star Richie Spice. This great cut over the strong "Aint That" riddim, originally composed by Clinark in 2005 and laid by Mafia & Fluxy and Stanley Andrews, now reappears on a digital EP along with the original piece, Clinark's solid "Ain't That Something" (also featured on the 'Journey To Foreign" set).
When Clinark approached Richie Spice's management about collaborating on another riddim for the album, the artist himself decided that he wanted to use the "Aint That" riddim for a new collaboration. Clinark says: "It was a dilemma at first, Richie came back with "Concrete Jungle" and it was outstanding but after all the work we had put into 'Ain't That" and the fact that I loved singing the song, I couldn't put it aside either, so after a discussion we agreed that we would use the same riddim for 2 songs on the album." This EP not only contains these two tracks, "Ain't That Something" and "Living In A Concrete Jungle", but also 7 previously unreleased versions of the "Aint That" riddim including the straight version of the riddim, its wicked dub version and the real nice "Dub Organ Ride". For those who are always on the outlook for a vinyl edition: "Living In A Concrete Jungle" and the "Dub" will be out shortly. |
