'Bamboo Fence & Curry Goat' is a handy collection of roots and lovers tunes from producers Bunny Lee and Ossie Thomas from the late 70s to the early 80s. Ossie Thomas released a string of raw dancehall hits in the early 80s on his Black Solidarity label, which he owned in partnership with Triston Palma. Featured here are brilliant tracks by Cornell Campbell, Two Face Rasta and Drifter, Triston Palma with the title track of the Spliff Tail album and the lovers tune Funny Lover. Rod Taylor delivers a highly spiritual track entitled The Lord Is My Light, whilst Sammy Dread brings the superb rasta anthem Righteous Dread. Also present is the well known Spread Out by Don Carlos, Horace Andy with his rendition of The Paragons' Man Next Door and dancehall star Michael Palmer with Mr. Landlord over the 'Get In The Groove' riddim. All tracks were recorded at King Tubby's, Channel One, Tuff Gong and Dynamic Sounds. |
