Daddy Cookiz presents Live Session 1
A microphone, a drum machine, a melodica, the night falls, one perceives the reflection of the lights of the city, the piece begins with a rather heavy bass… Daddy Cookiz, singer of the group Atomic Spliff, delivers his first live session, which takes us to La Légia, as a barge a bit of an atypical cultural hotspot and a symbolic place for nightlife in Liège, Belgium.
Influenced from an early age by hip-hop, reggae and dub, Daddy Cookiz performs his first solo track “Good Skank Deejay”, filmed live with no editing done afterwards. Combining his writing with surprisingly original musical compositions, the mix – sometimes reminding of dub and hip hop with some electronic keys – is fascinating and energetic at the same time.
This first single marks the beginning of a series of “Live Sessions” that Daddy Cookiz offers for his solo project. A relaxed approach, uncomplicated and sincere, it’s something to look forward to the next in the cool and easy “Live Sessions”. Sometimes solo, sometimes accompanied by other musicians, the concept will be a performance recorded live, imbued with the atmosphere of rather unusual places.
