Lila Iké shares new single.
Jamaican vocalist Lila Iké (pronounced Lee-lah Eye-kay) puts a fresh, romantic spin on vintage rub-a-dub reggae with her latest single entitled “Second Chance”.
Lila Iké (pronounced Lee-lah Eye-kay) is one of the freshest new voices on Jamaica’s music scene. As the latest addition to In.Digg.Nation Collective, a record label and talent pool for Jamaican creatives started by reggae star Protoje, the fast-rising singer is gaining attention at home and abroad with her distinctive delivery and old-school sensibilities. Having appeared as a featured guest on tracks by Protoje and on mixtapes by Addis Pablo and Yaadcore, she issued her debut singles “Biggest Fan” and “Gotti Gotti” in 2017.
“Second Chance”, underpinned by a revitalized version of Dennis Brown’s “Promised Land” riddim, is the second collaborative release from reggae star Protoje’s In.Digg.Nation Collective and Delicious Vinyl Island, the new Caribbean music imprint from iconic rap label Delicious Vinyl, and follows last week’s drop of Sevana’s soulful summer bop, “Sometime Love”.
“I wanted to highlight a different side of a love situation,” Iké says of “Second Chance”, which was produced by Alfred Simpson for Safire Music. “Men aren’t always the problem, and nothing is wrong with asking for a second chance! Especially now that finding a good partner is so rare… if you have one, fight for him!”
After having made her international performance debut at the Uppsala Festival in Sweden on July 27, she will be performing at Reggae Geel’s Yard stage inna Sound System Style with King Horror Sound on August 4, 2018.
