Soulful new single from Jamaica’s Sevana
Sevana is a singer, actress and model hailing from the island of Jamaica. First introduced to international audiences through her work on reggae star Protoje’s 2014 album “Ancient Future”, she has since released a self-titled solo EP and played the starring role in the groundbreaking Jamaican web series, “Losing Patience”. It’s safe to call her Jamaica’s latest “it girl” as her photogenic, natural look has made her a favorite of photographers and fashion labels.
Sevana’s “Sometime Love” is a breezy summer bop from Jamaica by way of London and, spiritually speaking, Memphis. Inspired by the bluesy soul of Otis Redding and Percy Sledge, Sevana, the first lady of reggae star Protoje’s In.Digg.Nation Collective, recorded “Sometime Love” in London with a team of producers and musical collaborators led by BBC DJ/personality Seani B.
With the release of “Sometime Love”, she offers a first taste of her upcoming debut album, revealing a soulful R&B sound that defies expectations of what a Jamaican singer should sound like.
