KING TUBBY MEETS BLACKBEARD’S RING CRAFT POSSE: LOST DUB FROM THE VAULT

On the Hulk label, a subsidiary of Paris-based Patate Records comes the 10-track album “King Tubby Meets Blackbeard’s Ring Craft Posse: Lost Dub From The Vault”. This 15th October 2019 released vinyl LP is a compilation album featuring previously unreleased dubs of various well known riddims. These were produced in the second half of the 1970s by the brother of Tappa Zukie, Rodguel Sinclair aka Blackbeard, with the The Ring Craft Posse. This backing band never became as well known as luminaries like the Aggrovators, the Revolutionaries, or the Roots Radics, but they were nonetheless excellent and quite luminary themselves. Blackbeard worked closely with them for years, roughly from the early ’70s into the early ’80s, during which time they recorded songs for innumerable Jamaican singers while he manned the boards. The Ring Craft Posse included musicians such as Sly & Robbie, ‘Family Man’ Barrett, Bongo Herman, Carlton Barrett, Scott Style, Mikey Boo, Lloyd Parks, Willy Lindo, Winston Bo-Pee, Robbie Lyn, Nambo Robinson, and Dean Fraser. Blackbeard would often make dub versions of Ring Craft Posse backing tracks, which can be heard on the 2004 released Moll-Selekta LP “St. Catherine in Dub 1972-1984” and now also on this LP.
