Deejay Shaka Pow: The World and My Kids

Fifth of a six part series.
In almost every country the importance of children cannot be underestimated.
At Sunday school we would sing:
“Jesus love the little children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow, black and white
All is precious in his sight
Jesus love the little children of the world.”
Reggae superstar Bob Marley, when asked, what is the most important person in this world, remarked… “AN UNBORN CHILD”.
“The fact is, there is so much potential wrapped up in a child that the possibilities of greatness is unlimited. One could never have thought that Usain Bolt would have become the undefeated 100 and 200 meter runner in the world, or that Martin Luther King would become a great civil rights leader.”
The ‘Fully Bright’ deejay, popularly known as Shaka Pow, has two sons.
“Kyle recently celebrated his fifteenth birthday on November 23, 2022. The other, Shane, is 8 years old.”
“I try to spend as much time with my two sons because they need a positive male role model in their lives, even with a caring mother around them.”
“I have to ensure that they are doing well in school and that they are also involved in extra-curricular activities, which will make them well-rounded.”
“Kyle plays the piano. He is also engaged in sports. He does soccer, athletics, basketball, and American football. Shane, In contrast, loves playing dominoes, video games, and studying stuff related to the globe.”
The deejay explains the joy expressed whenever they go shopping.
“They are so excited knowing that they now get the chance to pick up some of the extra things they like, all by themselves. Kyle loves to pick up his favourite snacks. And, I allow them to select their favourite sneakers which includes Jordan; T-shirts, joggers, jeans, and shorts.
“Kyle enjoys a lot of pasta, potato salad, and salmon. For Shane, he would visit McDonald’s as many as three to five times a week.”
“Shane usually expects – for his birthday – toys and has a large collection of small cars.”
“Both are very computer savvy with Kyle getting the top prize for Best Performer in Computer Science at Stella Maris Prep; he is always among the top ten performers in his class. Now. he has consistently made the A and B Honors Roll, while the younger one is a top Maths performer.”
“We as parents must encourage our children to be courteous and mannerly; to be open and honest at all times. We have to create an environment where children won’t be afraid to express their views and opinions respectfully. And, when they become adults be able to take care of themselves and their families and contribute positively to society.”
“We also expect them to select careers which they will love and enjoy.”
Be sure to read Christmas with the McDonalds. Only on the Reggae-Vibes site.
