“For ’93, I felt I could help more people in my Red Square community. This love for people came from my parents. I saw them helping people a lot in my community. And, over the years I have helped a lot of people, even some who really did not like me. Sometimes, I prefer to give someone the opportunity to give them the gift, so they had no idea I was the person behind the giving.”

“For the music I was signed by Capitol Records in 1994 and they were responsible for producing my second album – “Uncommonly Smooth.”

“The company also wanted me to do collaborations. I did one with Ben E.King titled “Spanish Harlem” because King was a favourite of my parents.”

“I also did collaboration with Cheville Franklyn for ” A1 lover” and “Lonesome Side” with Cocoa T.”

“The collaborations have given me more traction overseas. For example, “A1 Lover”, played on BET, gave me a lot of exposure in the US market. And I won a number of music awards including Best New Artiste, Rockers and BET awards.”

“My main focus then was making some good music. Back in Jamaica, I did my best on every show, but I was still in a learning experience, nevertheless the responses were good. And, whenever I performed it was fully sold out.”

His other success locally included songs such as “Car Crash,” “Born Good looking,” “Funny Guy Thing,” “Dolly House,” and “Machine Gun Kelly.”

Among his many albums are “Fully Loaded,” “Jack it Up,” and “Chiliagon.” and his latest “The Journey Chosen.” This features the likes of Wayne Wonder, Ky-Mani Marley, Jahazeil and kranium.

“For young artistes, I had Frisco Kid, Baby Cham, Delly Ranx, Sugar Slick, and others who made links to perform on shows.”
