I-tru-jah's gift to mothers

US-based reggae singjay, I-tru-jah, brought a breath of fresh air at Killa Boo (from Irie Jam radio) and Jemehl Mother’s Day Tribute, Dinner and Dance, held recently at the Compound, Queens, New York.

This is a premiere hot spot for reggae fans who need something extra, apart from the usual fanfare associated with live performances.

With male crooner Richie Stephens as headliner, scores of mothers and their loved ones were in the house to sing and cheer.

I-tru-jah took the stage on Sunday morning at about 2 0’clock, ready to unleash his lyrical gifts to mothers and their loved ones.

The first was the highly anticipated song titled “Mama,” which he claims has given him the strength to succeed over the years.

His acapella rendition left memories of his special gift to entertainment. He then went into his other selection, “Just Love,” which got the crowd calling for more.

Richie Stephens who had the whole place singing his songs was at his usual best. Patrons partied into the wee hours of the morning which ended at about four o’clock.
