Amelia Gayle wins “Beatbopper” award for Academic Excellence

Six-year-old Amelia Gayle, a student at Naggo Head Infant School, St. Catherine, is the first recipient of the US Michael “Beatbopper” Hudgins award for academic excellence. The announcement came with thunderous applause from teachers, students, and parents who attended the school’s graduation exercise at Portmore Church of God last Thursday, June 29, 2023.
Amelia, who copped the top student and Best Attendance award, received from Hudgins a fabulous gift package in addition to a cash award to help with her Back-To-School expenses. The award was presented by Eugene Pitter on behalf of Hudgins.
In an interview with Reggae-Vibes, Hudgins congratulated Amelia and the school for preparing students of such a high standard
“This award is a prestigious one, and as such, I must commend the school for its well-rounded curriculum, which will prepare students for the next level of education.”
“Amelia will certainly be a role model for other students, and she will only get more outstanding in the coming years.”
Mr. Hudgins adds that “Jamaica needs as much support for its children, so it is a pleasure to be contributing. And, I hope others will join in sponsoring at least a child for the next school year.”
Hudgins started to give his financial support to Jamaica by pledging part proceeds from his self-produced “Miungu Ya Muziki(Music Gods) International” album. He later donated cash to three students in Jamaica; the first from kindergarten, the second from secondary level; the third from an adult institution. He also donated the top trophy to the winner of the Champion Boy Karaoke and Talent Contest.
Hudgins is known for his contribution in charting Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica: The Reggae Collector’s Edition to Billboard status.
He is now preparing to release two albums this year; the ‘Just for Peace International’ album to promote peace throughout the world and the ‘Christian International’ album, which could have Skema Boy as one of the main acts.
