Mr Easy's 'Drive Me Crazy' feastured on 'Grime Kids' Series
The saying “Good music doesn’t have an expiration date” couldn’t ring more true for international recording artist Mr Easy, as his global Dancehall hit “Drive Me Crazy” is featured on ‘Grime Kids,’ a drama series now playing on BBC Three.

“Drive Me Crazy,” Mr Easy’s Tony Kelly produced staple (“Buy Out” riddim), is raking in accolades amidst celebrating it’s 22nd Anniversary. The song, which one can hear on any given night around the globe, tops off it’s big year with a feature in ‘Grime Kids’ — an acclaimed TV series, which charts the rise of a fictional group of young Black London teenagers coming of age in the late ’90s, dreaming of being able to make their voice heard through grime music.

“It is such an unbelievable, but gracious feeling to know that out of so many songs out there that ‘Drive Me Crazy’ was selected for the ‘Grime Kids’ series,” says Mr Easy. “Trust me, it means a lot that my classic Dancehall record is still getting love and music placements.”

Set against a backdrop of real events and cultural moments, ‘Grime Kids’ reveals how grime, born from within British housing estates, took over the world. Inspired by the 2018 book of grime pioneer DJ Target, ‘Grime Kids’ is an original drama exploring the emergence of grime music from subculture to international phenomenon, written by Bafta-nominated and BIFA-winning writer Theresa Ikoko. The series stars Shanu Hazzan, Juwon Adedokun, Gabriel Robinson, Tienne Simon and Yus Jamal Crookes.

The Guardian says, “‘Grime Kids’ has an infectious joy that makes you want to put on a bright tracksuit and blast Solid Crew from an old Discman.”

Mr Easy is proud of the longevity of “Drive Me Crazy” and its placement in ‘Grime Kids.’

Much to his credit, Mr Easy’s “Drive Me Crazy” was also featured in the film ‘After The Sunset,’ starring Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek, Woody Harrelson and Don Cheadle. Meanwhile, ‘Bashment Time’ by Mr Easy and Frisco Kid was featured in the cult classic ‘Belly,’ which is celebrating its 25th Anniversary.

It’s clear that “Drive Me Crazy” shows no signs of slowing down. A viral video featuring NBA point guard Russell Westbrook jamming to “Drive Me Crazy” surfaced this fall. In the video, which has been viewed thousands of times, the LA Clippers player is seen dancing and singing the words to the Early 2000s smash verbatim, right down to the ad libs.

Mr Easy, who has been a musical force for over 35 years, says, “My ultimate goal as a musician is to make age defying, impactful music.”

Before a multi-generational, sold out crowd recently in Bermuda with Frisco Kid and Louie Culture, Mr Easy further solidified his mission. The Reggae and Dancehall singer has plans to take the “Showtime” show on the road in 2024, featuring top acts from the 1990s and 2000s era.

As if things couldn’t get hotter for the music staple, he is currently enjoying a trio of blazing new songs, including “You Belong Into My Life” (Stingray Records), “Whine Nun Stop” and the “Gatubela” Ted Smooth Remix, featuring Karol G and Sigdatrig. Mr Easy’s timeless vocals seamlessly adorn these amazingly diverse songs, which range from Lover’s Rock to flavourful Dancehall and Latin Club.
