Rastafarian reggae artiste Chuck Fenda is fine-tuning his lyrical engine for a series of overseas shows, set to start in April 2024.
The highly favoured deejay, known for his ‘Heartless’ lyrics, swears to continue the Living Fire since his return to Jamaica late last year 2023. This has made him one of the Most Wanted reggae artiste for shows.
“We have been getting a lot of offers, but negotiations sometimes take weeks to finalise. At the moment my management team is not ready to disclose the full slate of shows, but so far we are getting offers from the Caribbean, the US, Canada, and Europe.”
“In terms of Africa, where I had never performed, it would be exciting to allow my fans to see Chuck Fenda in living action. Africa is significant because, as we all know, it is the land of our forefathers. As such the connection can only do good in terms of our culture and the opportunity to learn from each other.”
“The reggae market is also blooming faster than one imagines in Africa, with a number of artistes now collaborating with reggae artistes here in Jamaica and elsewhere.”
Bruce Melodie, a multi-award-winning Rwandan music artiste, collaborated with Jamaican dancehall superstar Shaggy for the song ‘When She Is Around’.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe-based dancehall/reggae artistes Buffalo Souljah and Dyllano recently worked with Jamaica production entity Natural Bond Entertainment.
Notable Nigeria/Jamaican collaborations include ‘Hurricane’ featuring Buju Banton and Tomi Thomas, and ‘Wine To The Top’ featuring Vybz Kartel and Wiz Kid.
Chuck Fenda, born Leshorn Whitehead in New York, grew up in Spanish Town, the former capital of Jamaica. His most recent release ‘Heartless’, a campaign against those who murder, especially children and the elderly, has led to soaring recognition. This has climaxed with a record-breaking series of shows which have made him one of the most dynamic reggae artiste to ring in the new year 2024.
