From Geneva, Switzerland comes a new Ska & Rocksteady band calling themselves Cosmic Shuffling. Members of this band are Leo Mohr (lead vocals), Mathias Liengme (piano, organ, percussions, backing vox), Primo Viviani (bass) and Loïc Moret (drums, percussions, backing vox), Anthony Dietrich Buclin (trombone, backing vox) and Basile Rickli (alto saxophone), of whom some were involved in I Kong’s comeback album “A Little Walk” and its follow-up set “Pass It On”. Guest musicians include Grégor Vidic (tenor saxophone), Thomas Florin (trumpet), Josu Santamaria (pick guitar) and Roberto Sánchez (rhythm and pick guitars), who also mixed expertly mixed all tracks at his A-Lone Ark Muzik Studio.

As one might expect from a project in which Spanish wizard Roberto Sánchez is involved, this 12″ Maxi EP has a stunning vintage sound, bringing back fond memories of the heydays of Ska and Rocksteady in Jamaica. The four tracks were recorded with just a few ribbon microphones and mixed in the purest tradition on analogue tapes. Each and every tune on “Cosmic Goes Wild” is a real treat for everyone’s eardrums and dancing shoes. They are simply irresistible with in particular the fun Ska pieces “Ponce Pilate” (an instrumental track) and “Don’t Hold Me Back” urging your body to move. The other two tracks, “Chocolate Girl” and “Stop Right Now”, are more the kind of songs that get the head nodding and the foot tapping.  [Only 300 copies available, so get it while you can!]
