Sugar Minott x Luciano x Numa Crew – No Solution EP

Founded in 2005 in Florence, Italy, the Numa Crew is a collective of DJs, Producers, and MCs, pioneers which focus on sound system music, with influences that range from dub & reggae to grime, dubstep, jungle & drum’n’bass. Over the years, they’ve been collaborating with and remixing artists such as Zion Train, Dub Sync, Daddy Freddy, Horace Andy, General Levy, Dub FX, Taiwan MC, DJ Vadim, and many more.

Numar Crew’s latest project, a 12″ vinyl platter out on Bristol-based dub/reggae label More Life Records, features the names of two of Jamaica’s biggest artists, the late ‘Original Godfather of Dancehall’ Sugar Minott and the ‘Messenjah’ Luciano. On Side A the listener is treated to the straight vocal cut of No Solution as well as its dub version, while the other side is reserved for the storming riddim to come to full expression.

Sugar Minott and Luciano come with their instantly recognisable vocals over a tuff bouncing Steppers riddim with a pounding bass sound, galloping drums, and great horns. As one might expect from these two artists, No Solution is a serious message tune about having ‘no solution for helping the poor and needy’. Next comes No Solution Dub, which drops really hard. No vocals on the other side, but an impressive sounding Horn Cut and a straight version of the riddim to fulljoy.
