Belleville International, a subsidiary of Patate Records, is continuing its digital release program with the latest single from Horace Martin called “Stop.” This release follows up the successful 2020 vinyl reissue of Martin’s debut album Watermelon Man from 1985, produced by Blackbeard for his label Mr Tipsy.

Horace Martin, hailing from Kingston, is an often overlooked vocalist who has put out a plethora of impactful recordings, yet has rarely been acknowledged for them. His career in the studio began in 1979 and since then, he has teamed up with the best producers and record labels around. He worked alongside Lee Perry to record Unity under his Lawyer persona, and also released his first version of Awake Jah Jah Children. He also worked with Michael & Robert “Flako” Palmer’s Negus Roots imprint, delivering Zuggy Zuggy and Sweet Something. Additionally, he bestowed the world with songs such as Africa Is Calling, We Are All One, Beautiful Dream, and Jah Jah Children through the Big Ben record label.

Cisko has created a riddim inspired by the Gladiators, which Horace Martin uses to deliver his own unique sound. Martin’s impeccable voice and flow are on full display, as he sings over the rootsy, warm, and catchy riddim. The lyrics call out the FBI, RCMP, Scotland Yard, and the King Fish Squad, urging them to “Stop following me.” Along with the vocal cut comes its dub version titled Warriors Dub, which enables listeners to fulljoy the riddim in dubwise style and fashion.
