After previous noteworthy collaborations for the “Waiting Riddim” and Verse iTal’s “Truth & Substance EP”, German Sound System & Record label Culture Rock has teamed up with MacLes Music Factory out of Belgium for the third time. Mac Les was responsible for the mixing and mastering and additional instruments, while Asham Band’s Wim ‘Radics’ Verbruggen was recruited to play the drums.

The final result of this collaboration is a sublimely laid ‘one drop’ backdrop called “Progression Riddim”. Coming up with such a title for the riddim could be regarded as an indication that this collaboration is going from strength to strength – and indeed it is. There are some really strong selections on the “Progression Riddim” – not the least of which are potentially stellar efforts from the likes of Exco Levi, Voicemail and Queen Omega. In particular the latter’s powerful “Transform” is one of the biggest tunes on this roots reggae juggling, while also Exco Levi’s lovers piece “Bonafide” and Voicemail’s message tune “Fight The Truth” are gems of songs. Of the lesser known names it are cuts by Daniel “Blae” Minott, son of legend reggae pioneer Lincoln “Sugar Minott”, and Swashii that demand the listener’s full attention.

Everything here is definitely good to hear more than once. Well done!
