Alchemy Dubs rounds off the year 2020 with the release of a 7″ single, the label’s thirteenth release on this format so far. For this brand new instrumental the label’s owner, producer, and musician Ojah once again teamed up with Nik Torp, the keyboard player from The Specials.

The A-side of this vinyl platter features the engaging instrumental piece titled Notting Hill, a tribute to the famous carnival which this year was so greatly missed by many due to COVID-19. Notting Hill features sounds of the vintage and rare Yamaha SK-20 organ played by Nik Torp on top of a riddim created with ’80s & ’90s synths and drum machines.

On the flip side, the listener is treated to its dub version which, as we are used to from previous Alchemy Dubs releases, is sparse and full of fx. It’s reminiscent of those open-air dub sessions at Notting Hill Carnival. The dub was mixed live by Ojah on his analog console.

Alchemy Dubs delivers a nice ending to a bizarre year.
