After the February 2016 released “Bay Area Riddim”, this “Horn Of Africa Riddim” project is a next result of the fruitful collaboration of Perfect Giddimani with Sam Gilly’s well-esteemed House of Riddim outta Austria. And again it’s Greg Rose aka Perfect Giddimani himself together with young budding talent Teacha Dee, Young Shanty and Da Fuchaman, who have voiced a cut on yet another mighty backdrop.
Since coming onto the scene in 2006 with his smash hit “Handcart Bwoy”, Perfect Giddimani has released about ten studio albums and literally hundreds of singles showcasing his various musical influences and styles. In recent times he has established his own record label which is aptly named Giddimani Records and besides that he has also branched out into areas outside music, including a range of cigarette papers (Perfect Papers) and skateboards (Perfect Giddimani Skateboards).
The “Horn Of Africa Riddim” is a real nice original backdrop, which clearly benefits from the parts played by the horn section. One of the strongest cuts comes from Jamaican reggae singer and former educator Teacha Dee, best known for his hit singles “Smoke and Fly”, “Reggae Souljahs” and “Smuggling Weed”. After some years of study, Teacha Dee accepted the Rastafari way of life in June 2010. His song “Rastafari Way” is about that change in his life, telling the listener that making that choice might not be the most comfortable path, but the rewards are awaiting in Zion.
Another cut worth hearing is delivered by Swiss reggae artist Cookie The Herbalist, who leaves a good impression with “Seen It All”. A third song that rises above the rest is the uplifting “Not Today” by Da Fuchaman, a UK based artist who was born and raised in Middle Buxton, Browns Town, St Ann, Jamaica. The other cuts aren’t bad either with especially Perfect Giddimani’s solid “It Don’t Matter”, Young Shanti’s “I Try” and Rob Symeonn’s lovers piece “Your Love” being the ones that shouldn’t be overlooked.
Conclusion Although "Horn Of Africa Riddim" doesn't include real killers, it's a solid juggling project worth checking.
