Clement ‘Coxsone’ Dodd opened his own studio, nicknamed Studio One, in 1963. The legendary Jamaican recording studio and record label that pioneered the ska, rocksteady, reggae and dancehall crazes and sparked the careers of Bob Marley, Alton Ellis, Bob Andy, Dennis brown, Horace Andy, Jackie Mittoo and dozens of other reggae luminaries, have released thousands of essential reggae classics over its six-decade long history. The original location of the operation and its recording studio was 13 Brentford Road, Kingston 5, Jamaica W.I.
